Santa Cruz de Tenerife, July 2014.- The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque (, company owned by Grupo CIO (, has signed an agreement situating the prestigious French champagne brand Taittinger as the “flagship champagne” within its exclusive menu of sparkling wines.

The Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque and the Grupo Chivite (distributor of Taittinger in Spain), represented by Santiago Cabré, GM of the Hotel and Antonio Escofet, Sales Director of the Grupo Chivite, have recently signed a collaboration agreement linking the two brands and which further strengthens the ties which have joined the companies for several years.

Founded in 1734, the Taittinger Company belongs to the family of the same name, giving them the honour of being one of the last champagne houses named after their owners, who for generations have played an important role in the economic and political life of Reims and France in general.

In addition, it is the first brand of champagne to be elected by FIFA as the official champagne of a World Cup, Brazil 2014, being Taittinger Brut Reserve the champagne FIFA VIP guests were served during the most important events of the World Cup. Annual sales in the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque are expected to top 6,000 bottles.
