Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 4th of July, 2017.- The Maguenes project, developed by Compañía de las Islas Occidentales ( and designed by the prestigious architectural studio Foster & Partners, has been declared of strategic interest by the Committee of Investors and Strategic Projects of the Government of the Canary Islands. This will reduce by half the administrative timelines.

The project Maguenes Golf & Spa Hotel, located south of the island of Tenerife in the municipality of Guía de Isora, is characterized by its innovative concept in sustainable design and its integration into the environment.

Maguenes, designed by the London-based Foster & Partners architectural studio and reflecting the avant-garde and luxury spirit of the project, is managed by Compañía de las Islas Occidentales (CIO), company that owns the renowned Hotel Bahía del Duque, and who have more than 20 years’ experience in the luxury tourism sector of the Canary Islands. CIO wanted to create yet another innovative product that perfectly combines the endemic nature of the area with luxury stays and excellent service.”

With a surface area of more than 850,000 m2, Maguenes Golf & Spa Hotel will offer three exclusive products: a luxury boutique hotel, a Private Residence Club (PRC) and the Maguenes Residences private villas. Thanks to experience of The Tais in wellness and health, the resort will also feature a complete and elegant wellness & spa area, as well as a 500,000sqm golf course designed by the professional golfer Gary Player.

According to the Committee, Maguenes, in view of its special relevance for the social and economic development of the islands, is eligible for the Law on preferential processing of Strategic Investments in the Canary Islands, approved to expedite the processing in the public administrations of the files related with investment initiatives and projects.

Some of the requirements to qualify for this recognition include, the impact on the islands economy, especially in the area of creating employment and its repercussion in a sector of special interest for the archipelago, tourism.
