Santa Cruz de Tenerife, August 2014.- Grupo CIO (www.cio-company.com) has recently signed an agreement with the Spanish network of the United Nations Global Compact, by which it has become a part of the largest CSR initiative in the world, with over 12.000 companies involved and presence in over 145 countries.

Following the signing of this agreement, Grupo CIO will be among the 2,500 participants in the Spanish Global Compact Network who are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

According to the Spain’s Global Compact, “this is a practical framework for the development, implementation and disclosure of sustainable corporate policies and practices, offering participants a wide spectrum of workstreams, management tools and resources — all designed to help advance sustainable business models and market.”

In the words of Mónica Rumeu, director of the Corporate Social Responsibility department of Grupo CIO, “being a member of the Global Compact initiative is another step in our corporate responsibility policy, strengthening our work towards a model of responsible, ethical and efficient management."

This new initiative in CIO’s CSR activity demonstrates the importance of this new line of communication and development, in this case with an international character, vocation which began several years ago when they signed their first collaboration agreement with another major international association, WWF.
