COMPAÑÍA DE LAS ISLAS OCCIDENTALES HAS SIGNED A SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT WITH THE  CITY OF SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE FOR THE PROJECT “ 40 YEARS LATER” IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 40th ANNIVERSARY OF SCULPTURES IN THE STREET.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, June 2013.- Compañía de las Islas Occidentales (www.cio-company.com), which includes amongst other companies, Fuentealta (www.fuentealta.es), Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque (www.bahia-duque.com), and Record Security – will be the sponsor of the project “ 40 years later” in the programme  commemorating the 40th anniversary of the First Meeting of Street Sculpture sponsored by the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The companies belonging to the CIO group have always made clear their support of cultural activities, mainly Fuentealta, positioning itself as a brand collaborator for promoting young Canarian artists, as well its collaboration with the AECC and the UIMP, among other activities.

Moreover, the CSR department of CIO Group has also established channels and is in constant collaboration with various NGOs who contribute to improving the quality of life of Canarians, for example, the First Charity Tournament "Solidarity Rackets" which was recently held at the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque to benefit the foundation “Sonsoles Soriano”.

According to Mónica Rumeu, Director of the CSR Department of CIO Group, “ the goal with these types of activities is to ratify our sensitivity with everything that happens in our land and optimize a high degree of commitment to it. Therefore, participating in this cultural project, which defends, debates and brings together experts in the cultural circles, was an ideal project for us, which could contribute positively to the future of Santa Cruz of Tenerife, and we are grateful that they have counted with us for this collaboration.

“40 Years Later” officially starts on the 29th of June with a workshop in the art hall Los Lavaderos, which will unite the artists, architects, designers, and curator that have made this initiative possible. Pablo León de la Barra, one of the most respected art bloggers in the world, as well as the commissioners for the Biennial of Bat Yam, Israel, and the Spain Stand in the Valencia Biennial will also be in attendance of the workshop.

The findings will lead to an exhibition next September at the Art Center La Recova, where one of the projects of each participant will be displayed with their corresponding findings in order to “analyze culture as an engine of change providing a new outlook towards the future, in order to create work synergies in the common context of this project” said Gilberto González co-director of this project alongside Alicia Cárdenas.

According to Francisco Javier Zamorano, President of CIO Group, "we joined this project because we understand the enormous potential of culture as a common substrate of a society and a generation willing to assume leading roles as creative entrepreneurs. Furthermore, within the group, each one of our companies grows actively towards collaborating in CSR projects, which combine many of the values we want to convey and become a reference for all of us who work at CIO”.

According to Clara Segura, “without the sponsorship of companies like CIO and their strong commitment to culture, we could hardly develop such enriching and ambitious projects such as this commemoration. As head of the municipal department of Culture of the City of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I want to publicly acknowledge the contribution of this group of companies, which has understood that culture is a driver of change in the broadest sense of the term”.
